Chloë Fox

State Member for Bright

About Chloë

Chloë Fox, Member for Bright, was elected to the Parliament of South Australia on March 18, 2006. Formerly, Chloë was a teacher of English, French and History at Loreto Senior College, Marryatville. Chloë is passionate about the electorate of Bright, where her extended family has lived for more than 50 years. Chloë's political career began when she ran as a candidate for the seat of Boothby at the 2004 Federal Election. In November of that year, she was pre-selected as the candidate for Bright, and subsequently won the seat in March 2006.

Chloë was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier Mike Rann in March 2009. In March 2010 she was re-elected to parliament by an extremely narrow margin. In April 2010 she was promoted to the role of Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees, the youngest woman to hold this post in South Australian parliamentary history. In October of 2011 Chloe was appointed as the Minister for Transport Services.

Chloë attended Cabra College, Blackwood Primary and Blackwood High. After graduating, she went on to study at the University of Adelaide. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with first class Honours in French Studies, and a Graduate Diploma in Education from that institution, as well as a Master of Arts degree from City University, London.

Chloë worked as a journalist for three and a half years at The Advertiser. In 1997, she moved to France where she worked at ELLE online and then as an assistant editor for UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation). On her return to Australia, Chloë retrained as a teacher in 2001.

Chloë has always been passionate about politics, and started handing out how-to-vote cards at the age of 14.

Chloë enjoys reading, swimming, travelling and playing badminton (which she is not very good at, but enjoys nevertheless). Chloë lives locally in the electorate at Brighton and is enthusiastic about working for, and supporting the residents of the Bright electorate.
